For the stylish woman, her first thought when attending any event or going anywhere is always “what do I wear?”
Well, a great rule of thumb when attending any function is to always consider the theme when deciding what to wear and when in doubt dressing formally is always the best option. I mean think about it, it’s better to be overdressed than under dressed.
Here are the different types of dress codes with example themes that will get you prepared to attend any wedding.
Black Tie
When I think of Black Tie I tend to think of attending the MTV, or Bet Awards. This dress is still formal, but you have the liberty to be a bit more fun, flirty, sophisticated, and sexy. Examples of this theme would be “Oscar Party.” Check out this dress from Lulus.com. This dress was actually featured as being back in stock.

White Tie
When thinking of White Tie think more along the lines of Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and attending the Oscar’s…not the party… walking the red carpet. If you are attending the Oscar’s you want to be wearing a long gown that is elegant and made of the finest fabric. Your look should be timeless less Jackie Kennedy Onassis and you should be adorned in vintage diamonds.

Formal
Formal means that it’s more dressy. Semi-Formal also falls under this category as well. With Semi-Formal it’s about dressing up, but not all the way. Semi-Formal says Chic, Effortless and just enough Slayage.

Festive
Think more of a fun night on the town. Festive implies that your look will have more personality, play around with colors, sequins, and other embellishments. If you do you will hit this look out of the park.

Casual
Now, this does not mean jeans. This look implies more of a simple look that is clean and chic. Effortless in a big way. Depending on the theme I would go for a Cape Blazer Dress or a simple Black Dress with Nude pumps.
