Kontrol Magazine’s Gatsby Glamour shoot took place last weekend. It’s not often that you see Kontrol mag’s creative team being so candid in the process of photoshoots. However, some things must change if anything is going to grow or improve. Readers should expect to see more projects like this from Kontrol. Style is after all more than a loose term thrown around among creatives—it’s a state of being and is measured in range. Similar terms like elegance and glamour are often so heavily overused, their meaning loses potency. However, Kontrol Magazine’s Gatsby style shoot exuded a level style that can only be defined as classic, opulence.
The Great Gatsby shoot is easily one of Kontrol Mag’s more up-scale shoots and was no doubt amazing.
The theme of opulent, luxurious and grand bridal gowns fits perfectly in with bridal fashion trends for the fall 2021 season. Stylish tiered gowns and sweeping trains call to mind vintage southern decadence. Feathered gowns also made an appearance, and are dramatically stylish additions to the season’s selection of bridal fashion. Bridalwear is a curious topic, and everything has an aesthetic and a particular style. Shot at the W Hotel in Midtown Atl, the Great Gatsby shoot is in my opinion the one that’s solidified what Kontrol has been consistently showing its readership all these years. Luxury was the name of the job and Kontrol wardrobe stylist Julian Rashard understood the assignment. Its rare to find bridal shoots that put on such an ostentatious display of grandeur, even rarer that you see fashion shoots like this in African American publications.
